Servant  Leader  Teams

“servant leaders”  are:    specialists in their particular giftings/ calling who are asked to assist in the envisioning, building, or operation of a ministry or congregation

why?:    oftentimes ministries lack the resources (e.g., time or expertise) that are needed to complete the tasks that the Lord has set before them

purpose of sending out  “teams”:    to encourage, energize, enhance, deepen, improve effectiveness, sharpen or multiply the work of a local or national ministry

strategic activities of  “teams”:    there are many – teams usually focus on one or more of the following:

1.       extending solid teaching to establish the flock in the Word

2.       seed planting or fanning the flame of gifts and vision in people’s hearts and lives

3.       deploying resources that are developed elsewhere

4.       providing gifts/ skills that are unavailable/ undeveloped locally

5.       involvement in a type of spiritual warfare that is unknown/ not practiced locally

6.       helping local churches breakthrough thresholds into new ministry or understanding

7.       equipping local leaders for new roles or tasks

8.       bringing a spiritual authority, maturity, and experience to add momentum to a local situation

9.       refreshing/ revitalizing weary people in ministry

10.   repositioning local ministries for increased effectiveness

11.   mentoring/ “fathering”  local workers

12.   bridging the nations and cultures

caution:    teams should not duplicate what local people are able to do, since that could undermine local authorities that the Lord has set in place

keys:

Ø      identifying gifted locals who can carry on/ extend the work

Ø      utilizing mature workers having a good mix of gifts on the team

Ø      remaining focussed on the tasks so as not to over-stay

Ø      identifying teammates who have a passion & calling for the place they are going
